Beacon Economics Paid By Billionaires to Kill Measure S
Opponents of Measure S often cite a study by Beacon Economics to prove one thing or another. What they don't tell the public is that Beacon is a paid campaign consultant for the billionaire developers who are funding the campaign to kill reform of L.A.’s rigged planning system.
Just like how developers buy their own consultants to write environmental impact reports for their mega-projects (a glaring conflict of interest that Measure S stops), the billionaires hired Beacon and its founding partner Christopher Thornberg (photo above) to write a seriously flawed economic study about the impact of Measure S.
The Yes on S campaign stopped the billionaires from using that bogus report in the city's official voter guide.
Between January 2016 and January 21, 2017, Beacon Economics has been paid $50,500 by the billionaire developers.
That's a lot of money -- and Beacon is not going to write about the devastating, long-lasting impacts on neighborhoods and residents caused by LA's broken planning system.
In fact, the Beacon Economics study is one more example of how billionaire developers rig things in their favor so they can keep raking in millions and millions.
It's time to send the billionaires a message -- and fix LA's rigged and broken planning system.
Vote Yes on S on March 7.
